Adult Sailing Lessons
The club Lightning is used as a trainer for Adult sailing lessons. Contact the Adult Education Supervisor for details.

Bridge Race - Rowing
An early-morning start for the rowing shells followed by a fast, 6-mile race to the Oceanic Bridge and back.
Bridge Race-Sailing
Sailing Bridge Races are low-key, fun races for anything that has a sail and can float. A starting line is set up near the club, all boats sail down the river to a turning mark near the Oceanic Bridge (around 3 miles) and then finish back at the club. Results are posted with raw scores and various boat handicapping schemes so you can pick the one you finished best in to brag about. Bridge races are almost always capped off with a Porch Party or Keg Party. Bridge Races are held at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks from May to October.

Cocktail Party
Cocktail Parties celebrate special events: the beginning and end of the racing season, the Holiday Regattas, Christmas and St. Patrick's Day. Many attendees bring a plate of hors d'oeuvres and all contribute a few bucks for the communal bar.

Docktail Party
A Docktail Party is a Cocktail Party that is held on the club porches and docks, and on rafted cruising boats provided by the Cruising Fleet.
Evening Racing
When Daylight Savings Time takes effect, some of the best Navesink-River sailing is in the early evenings. From mid-May to the end of August, there are a series of races on Tuesday evenings starting at 6:30. All classes race together, and scoring is done with the Portsmouth handicapping system. Usually, three or four short races are run before dusk, so if you get there late, you can still get in on one or two races. This is low-key competition offering good practice on starting. After the races, the grill is brought out and many stay for a Patio Party under the stars.
Fireworks!
The club is an excellent spot for members and guests to view the annual July 3rd Red-Bank Fireworks. Come early, it gets crowded.
Fleet Activities
The One-Design and Cruising Fleets operate within MBC as discrete entities with charters and by-laws appropriate for their organizations. At the yearly calendar planning meeting, representatives from each fleet volunteer to take responsibility for specific calendar events such as Cocktail Parties, Porch Parties and the Haulout Dinner. In addition, each fleet will have its own events such as yearly meetings, parties, and regattas using club facilities. Check out the Yearbook to find a fleet you are interested in and give the Fleet Captain a call to get involved.
Floats-In/Floats-Out Work Parties
These are "all hands" work parties to move the floating docks out of the river for the winter and back in for the sailing season. The work starts at 8 AM on a Saturday morning and is finished around noon when lunch is served in the club. There is plenty of work of all kinds to be done; pushing float trailers back and forth in the yard, floating docks into place hammering together replacement docks, general yard clean-up, light repair work on the clubhouse, or cooking chili for lunch. These work parties are excellent opportunities to meet and get to know other club members. They are the best example of the cooperative spirit of MBC in action.
Frostbiting
For those hearty souls that want to continue sailing in late Fall and start in the early Spring, the Frostbite fleet has Sunday racing in National 10's - weather permitting. Skippers trade off every other race, so even if you don't own a N-10 (a.k.a Turnabout) you can come down and team up with someone who does.

Haul-Out Dinner
Held in November, this spectacular meal and awards presentation marks the end of the sailing season.

Holiday Regattas
The Club holds three Holiday Regattas - Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day - usually on the Saturday of the holiday weekend. Any one-design fleet (of at least 3 boats) can participate, and awards are given for top finishes in each one-design class. Lunch is provided for the participants, and the day closes with a Cocktail or Docktail Party.

Independence-Day Brunch
A sumptious repast and congenial family get-together to celebrate the 4th of July.

Junior Fun Day
Fun and games for the kids on land and water after the Independence-Day Brunch.

Junior Haul Out Dinner
Dinner and awards for the Junior Program Sailing Season.

Junior Sailing Program
MBC has an extensive Summer sailing program for kids. The program is open to families of members and non-members. If you have kids, give the Junior Program Supervisor a call to find details on this program.

Keg Party
Keg Parties are like Porch Parties, but with chips & dip, pretzels etc. substituted for the grilled food.

Open House
Special events to encourage new membership. Come check us out.

Opening Day Ceremony
The club commissioning ceremony on Opening Day. It may be the only time you see the Commodore in a blazer.

Patio Party
Patio Parties are Bring-Your-Own-BarBQs held on the Patio. The Evening Races are normally followed by a Patio Party.

Porch Party
Porch Parties are often held after a Bridge Race. The fare usually consists of hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, soda and beer served on the porch and patio.
Racing Series
The club holds three Sunday racing series for One-Design Classes over the course of each year - Spring, Summer, and Fall Series. Each Series is comprised of 4 to 6 Sundays with two or three races each Sunday. Each class gets its own start (providing there are at least two boats present for the class). In recent years, the participating classes have been Lightning, Albacore, Flying Scot, Woodpussy, and Sanderling.
Summer-Solstice Race & Breakfast
Rowers celebrate the longest day of the year with a 5:30 AM Bridge Race followed by a potluck breakfast.
