Plainfield Unofficial FrisbeeDog Competition - 6/7/98
On Sunday (6/7/98) almost all the frisbeedogs in New Jersey converged on the field
behind Plainfield High School. No sooner did we get out of our cars than the rain
started. It poured! Most of us got back into our cars to wait it out.
In ten or fifteen minutes the rain slowed considerably and we got out again. No
sooner did we get out this time before the rain picked up again. That was enough for the
organizers. (And I don't blame them!) The event was postponed until the following
weekend.
Well we drove about 45 minutes to get there and we were among the closer
competitors. What else could we do but hang around. Eventually, in another
ten or fifteen minutes the rain stopped..... for good! We still had somewhere
around 10 dogs so we decided to have our own "grassroots" competition.
Imagine that! No prizes, no sponsor, just a bunch of dogs and people doing what they
enjoy. Canine frisbee! People volunteered to be scorekeepers and time keepers
and we were off!
When we finished it turned out we had the following results:
1st Maggie (an Aussie)
2nd Me - Rudy ( Lab)
3rd Hmmm............. Sorry I forget.....can anyone help me here?
Well a great time was had by all ........and we learned that the fun is in the
competition and companionship. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and made it happen.
