" I'm althea (lilith@dorsai.org), and this is my web page - at long
last freshly updated and not full of stuff I haven't been doing for months
and months and months... So, what AM I doing, you ask. (And what am I not
doing...) Well, I am no longer AT ALL involved in the NYC gothic chat list
(nycgoth-l@necronomi), which many many people have come to associate with
me over the last couple of years. To those who witnessed the degeneration
of that list - I am truly sorry. However, after the individual whom I had
initially approached about using his computer system to run the list had
a mental breakdown and fit of paranoid schizophrenia, decided that I was
actually his archenemy, ceased talking to me, and refused to answer e-mail
(or take his prescribed medication)- well, I preferred to wash my hands
of the whole situation. I guess I should have known... when someone starts
accusing random people of summoning demons to "come get him" in his house,
one should know to STAY AWAY. Well, live & learn. Anyway, I felt, and
feel that that list had already served and outlived its original purpose,
which was to facilitate communication between members of a scene that in
a large city like NYC, can find it hard to meet each other. At this point,
we've pretty much all met each other. And we've pretty much all decided
who we like, who we dislike, and who we'd rather blow away with a sawed-off
shotgun. It's pretty obvious that most people aren't interested in listening
to others broadcast their squabbles over the internet. However, there still
are a lot of great people in this scene, and an awful lot of great events,
shows, parties, films... you name it! I'd venture to say that NYC has possibly
the best scene in the world right now in some ways... (even if we don't
have Lacrimosa or the Merry Thoughts... or the Carnival of Souls or the
Whitby Festival... sigh. ) Anyway, this is why I chose to start a fully
moderated announcement list to serve the NYC gothic (and related) scene.
This list sends out an average of one message per day, including info.
on bands, shows, movies, club events, parties, requests for info, reviews
of shows, local band announcements, etc. It is currently sent to 323 local
people, and is by far the most comprehensive service of its kind. Yeah,
so I'm proud of it! :) "
