I went to Depeche Mode at MSG in NYC Wed Oct 28th 1998. Great on stage performance, combined with a very enthusiastic and energetic crowd! BTW, always observe all signs at all times. :)
I must say that out
of all the concerts I've ever been to, this one was one of the most enjoyable
of all times. Of all the favorite bands of mine i've ever wanted
to see this was amongst the most important band! Although the Sisters
of Mercy had a better light show, DM had unbelievable stage presence, great
vocals, and great movement on stage. The big "DM" behind them and
the funky lights around the upper tier of the stage were impressive!
Some new remixes of some old songs...and an unbelievable version of "Somebody"
sang old 80's DM style! :) Fans seemed in their mid twenties
to late thirties overall, and was a very tame crowd. Also, i've seem
many bands try to get the crowd to swing their arms...but of them all,
DM had the crowd swinging their arms so much it looked awesome (by far
topped the Chili Peppers try at Woodstock 94!). I can't say it any
other way. There was a "mood" and a feeling in that place that not
even words could describe. DM had and will always have a great stage
show. Check em out if they ever tour again!
The awesome stage!
Great use of mood lighting!
The stage again! :)
One the most intriguing parts of the show.
I can't even tell you what it did...but
it was
like something out of a Hitchcock movie
in that
it had silhouettes and also acted
as an awesome projector screen! Way cool!
Just another cool shot of the stage
as lights were dimming.
Oh yeah! The "DM" letters were almost
30 ft tall.
And had different light patterns that
were static and dynamic!
